Anurag Maurya is a geoscience researcher, academic professional, and the Chief Executive Officer of Geoprimex, an organization focused on research, education, innovation, and scientific knowledge dissemination. His broader research interests include hydrogeology, spring rejuvenation, water resources, paleontology, geomorphology, GIS and environmental geoscience.
He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Geology at Doon University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand and completed M.Sc. in Geology from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University and a B.Sc. in Geology, Botany and Zoology from the University of Lucknow, where he graduated as a Gold Medalist. He has qualified CSIR-UGC NET in Earth Sciences (AIR 79) , UGC-NET in Environmental Sciences, and GATE in Geology & Geophysics. He has also been awarded the ONGC Meritorious Scholarship in Geosciences in recognition of his academic performance.
His professional experience encompasses academic teaching, geological research, field investigations, spatial data analysis, GIS-based mapping, scientific documentation, and student mentoring. He has worked as a Project Assistant at the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, as a researcher at the University of Lucknow, and as Guest Faculty in Geology. His field experience includes geological investigations and guidance of student field activities across Uttarakhand and adjoining Himalayan regions.
Anurag has actively contributed to scientific conferences, research presentations, academic training, and professional development. His academic work includes research on spring water sustainability and the Upper Yamuna River Basin, along with publications including Crust to Core: A Geologist's Glossary and Bhuparpati Se Kendra Tak. He has also presented research at national and international academic forums, including an award-winning poster presentation.
His technical competencies include water isotope analysis, hydrochemical field measurements, GIS and spatial analysis, geological instrumentation, scientific data analysis, and digital research tools. He has undertaken specialized training through institutions and platforms including IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IISER Pune, Geological Survey of India, NPTEL, and the University of Alberta.
