Training on Water Quality and Sustainability

One Day Training and Awareness Program on

A one-day training and awareness program was successfully conducted on 17th March 2026 at Dehradun.

The program was organized by Dr. Rajeev Saran Ahluwalia, Assistant Professor, Department of Geology, NHRSC, Doon University, and was funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), India.

The training was mentored by Anurag Maurya, who guided the participants throughout the field-based learning sessions.

The program was designed for B.Sc. and M.Sc. interns, focusing on practical and field-oriented aspects of geology and hydrology. Participants gained hands-on experience in:

In-situ analysis of groundwater quality
Water sampling techniques and data collection methods
Primary precautions during field investigations
Measurement of spring/stream discharge

In addition, the interns were trained in the identification of various rock types in the field, enhancing their geological observation skills.

A significant highlight of the training was the field visit to the Main Boundary Thrust (MBT) at Sehansahi Ashram near Old Mussoorie Road, Dehradun. This provided participants with valuable exposure to a major geological structure of the Himalayan region.

Overall, the program successfully combined theoretical knowledge with practical field experience, contributing to the development of essential skills among budding geoscientists.
